The Decorah Fareway wants to make sure the elderly and those with health conditions are able to get the groceries they need. The store has scheduled its first hour of business—from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. Monday through Saturday—as a time set aside for those 65 years old or older; expectant mothers; and those with increased susceptibility to illness.
The special hour for those who could be most affected by the coronavirus is part of a restructuring of hours at the store. Fareway is now open from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. six days a week. Fareway says the reduced hours the store is open to the public will give Fareway employees more time to clean and restock the store and will give them "some much-needed rest."
