The Decorah Community Food Pantry will remain open, although it will operate under new procedures.
Clients will no longer be escorted through the food pantry but will receive items pre-selected by volunteers. The Food Pantry is also recruiting volunteers who are not in high risk populations.
"A majority of our volunteers are in the age group considered more at-risk for exposure to the coronavirus and we want to protect the health of our volunteers," stated Director Carol Hemesath. She says volunteers are needed to serve clients of the food pantry--epecially to work at the front desk, checking in clients."
There will be on-site training sessions on Wednesday morning, March 18th at 10:00 and Thursday afternoon, March 19th at 3:30. The Pantry is located at 110 Railroad Street. The food pantry hours are noon until 2:30 p.m. every weekday and 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays.
Interested volunteers can message Carol Hemesath at (563) 380-8505, respond on the food pantry's
