The local coronavirus dilemna--to cancel or not to cancel?

Organizations throughout Winneshiek County are being faced with the same question as the coronavirus outbreak begins to broaden, but has not reached Winneshiek County: should they cancel their scheduled events, or should they continue as scheduled for now?
Different organizations are reaching different decisions. The AAUW program scheduled for Monday night; the Decorah Community Meal scheduled for this week; and the Tuesday afternoon Luther Woman's Club meeting have all been cancelled. The Tuesday morning Winneshiek Energy District breakfast and the Tuesday morning Vesterheim children's hour program are both going on as scheduled, however.
While Luther College has decided to hold classes on-line following this week's spring break week, NICC in Calmar will be holding classes as usual this week.
Even churches have not been exempt from having to make a decision. First Lutheran Church, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and Decorah Congregational/UCC did not hold sanctuary services on Sunday, but Decorah Lutheran and Decorah Covenant Church did.
decorahnews.com will continue to post cancellation notices, but if you're wondering about an event, the best bet will be to call someone from the organization to confirm whether there will be a meeting.
