Weather spotter training sessions offered in northeast Iowa

The National Weather Service and local county emergency managers host spotter training classes across Iowa every spring. Training sessions will be offered locally at the following times and locations around northeast Iowa:
Thursday, March 12th, at 7:00 p.m. at the Monona Fire Station
Wednesday, March 18th, at 6:30 p.m. at the Featherlite Center at the Howard County Fairgrounds in Cresco
Monday, March 30th, at 6:30 p.m. at the Postville Fire Station
The training sessions will cover identifying and reporting severe weather, spotter safety, severe weather climatology in Iowa, and thunderstorm structure and threats. The training runs 60 to 75 minutes in length, is open to the public, and free of charge. No prior registration is required.
