Six South Winn FFA students advance to District competition

Six South Winneshiek FFA members have earned the right to attend the Northeast FFA District Leadership Development Convention next weekend, based on their performance at an initial event at North Fayette Valley High School.

Anna Holthaus, Isabelle Kipp and Brenna Hageman earned gold medals in Chapter Program and will advance to Districts: Ashley Elsbernd earned a gold medal in Extemporaneous Speaking and will advance to Districts. Holly Schmitt earned a gold medal in Public Speaking and will advance to Districts. Carson Brincks earned a gold medal in Job Interviewing and will attend Districts as an alternate.

Also at North Fayette High School, Hannah Franzen won a bronze medal in Broadcasting, while Kalissa Schmelzer won a bronze medal in Creed Speaking.

The top finishers at the Northeast District Convention in Independence on Saturday will earn the right to advance to the Iowa FFA Leadership Conference in April.
