Task force might be formed to again investigate having a municipal electric utility in Decorah

Decorah City Council member Emily Neal says a second referendum on establishing a municipal electric utility in Decorah could be "at most two years out" from now. That's why she and other city council members are discussing forming an MEU feasibility study task force which would gather information about the topic.
City council member Steve Luse says one question which should be asked is whether the City of Decorah should hire a third party to review the previous feasibility studies conducted by Alliant Energy and by Decorah Power.
Neal says there are a lot of questions like that. City council member Johanna Bergan agrees, saying the task force would "bring together a group of people to bring information back to us."
While city council members have begun discussing the idea, the job of appointing members to a task force could fall to Decorah Mayor Lorraine Borowski. She would then make the decision--after hearing from city council members--about how many people should be named to the task force and who they would be.
