Eleven Decorah Middle School students have qualified for the State History Day competition

Around 40 Decorah Middle School eighth grade students participated in the Regional History Day competition held at Decorah Middle School.  Eleven of the students qualified for the state competition to be held in Des Moines on April 27th.

State qualifiers and their projects:

Individual Performance--Shlok Patel: "Wernher Magnus Maximilian Freiherr von Braun"

Individual Documentary--Kelly Gates: "U.S.S. Barb"

Group Documentary--Mason Cote and Alex McGohan: First Jamaican Bobsled Team"

Group Performance--Kathryn Kelly and Brenna Parker: "Radium Girls"

Group Exhibit--Danielle Losen and Lydia Monreal-Rice: "Diamond in the Rough: Breaking the Unrecognized Barrier of Neuroscience"

Individual Exhibit--Gabrielle Dixon: "Children's Blizzard of 1888 "

Individual Websites--Lucas Arendt: "The Manhattan Project's Legacy on Modern-Day Warfare"

Individual Paper--Skyler Cole: "The Federalist Papers' Impact on the Judicial System"
