Decorah's City Attorney, John Anderson, says representatives of the Decorah Walmart have told him they plan to pay the $300 fine levied against Walmart in the wake of one of Walmart's employees selling tobacco products to someone under the age of 18.
The fine is the result of what happened January 10th, when a Walmart employee sold tobacco products to an underaged shopper. She pled guilty to the charge and paid a fine. In such cases, the business is assessed a civil penalty of $300. Anderson says Walmart representatives have told him the business does not plan to contest the charge and will just pay the $300 fine.
