Riverview Center has recognized Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office Deputy/Detective Mike Foland for his work with the area's Sexuality
Assault Response Team.

Riverview Center serves Winneshiek County and 15 other counties--Allamakee, Benton, Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Chickasaw, Clayton, Delaware, Fayette, Howard, Jones and Linn counties in Iowa and Jo Davies County and Carroll County in Illinois.

Deputy Foland was selected for the recognition because of his work in bringing together multiple parties in sexual assault cases, including counselors.  As a result, cases he has investigated have had a high solve rate.  "He's leading the way on how we're doing this," Sheriff Dan Marx tells decorahnews.com.  Marx adds, "Deputy Foland is very deserving of this recognition, and we thank him for his service to Winneshiek County."

Sheriff Marx's comments are echoed by Riverview Center Regional Coordinator of Sexual Assault Response Teams Brandi Lewin.  She says Deputy Foland "is a leader within law enforcement" for his handling of sexual assault investigations.  "He excels at a team approach," she tells decorahnews.com, adding, "He's very compassionate with victims" and makes sure to ask them what they need.  She says this is a special achivement, since sexual assault cases are usually very tough cases to investigate.
