Nine people face drug charges following two traffic stops last week in Decorah

The Decorah Police Department has released the details of two traffic stops last week that resulted in charges being filed against nine occupants of two vehicles.

Early Wednesday morning police made a traffic stop of a vehicle on Quarry Street.  During the traffic stop, officers determined that the five people were using and possessed marijuana.  Charged with First Offense Possession of Marijuana were 19-year-old Andres Atkins of Redwood City, California; 18-year-old Jake Stone of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; 20-year-old Isaiah Menchaca of Morgan Hill, California; 19-year-old Donovan Fitzgerald of Mariette, Georgia; and 18-year-old Justin Taitano of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Late Friday night police investigated a car parked at the Decorah Community Prairie near Ohio Street and located marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. 

Two people were arrested and taken to the Winneshiek County Jail for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Methamphetamine and Marijuana--19-year-old Kaulin Bryce of Decorah and 18-year-old Savana Borseth of Decorah.  Two other occupants of the car--21-year-old Arielle Blazek of Bridgewater, Iowa and 20-year-old Isabella Jenkinson of Northfield, Minnesota--were issued tickets for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Police say additional charges may be pending.
