Eastern Iowa Congresswoman Abby Finkenauer is announcing that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is awarding a $2,989,601 grant to Northeast Iowa Community Action Corporation for its Head Start programs.
Head Start programs promote the school readiness of young children from low-income families. The programs serve children from birth to age 5, in centers, child care partner locations, and in their own homes. Head Start services include early learning, health, and family well-being.
This month, Finkenauer visited NEICAC's Head Start center in Oelwein, where she read to students and spoke with staff about Head Start.
Northeast Iowa Community Action Corporation has offices in Decorah and other NE Iowa communities and serves families in Allamakee, Bremer, Chickasaw, Clayton, Fayette, Howard and Winneshiek counties.
