Preston woman ticketed for careless driving

54-year-old Sally Meigs of Preston has been ticketed for careless driving following an accident on Highway 52 Saturday afternoon.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office says Meigs was ahead of 84-year-old Gerald Geving of Mabel around 12:45 Saturday afternoon.  Geving attempted to pass Meigs when she swerved left and ran into Geving. Then, as Geving pulled over, Meigs hit him again.  Meigs then proceeded south on Highway 52.

Decorah Police officers later stopped Meigs and gave her a ticket for careless driving.

No injuries were reported.  The accident did a total of $4,000 of damages.
