Some Winneshiek County Veterans may be eligibile for higher benefits

Purple Heart recipients, former POWs, VA Service-connected veterans and VA caregivers with a VA Community Care letter are now eligible to get Commissary/Exchange Privileges.  Veterans need to have a new version VA Health ID Card (displaying Purple Heart, Former POW or Service-Connected), along with other acceptable documents to gain access at bases.

Fort McCoy near Sparta, Wisconsin will need a VA Health ID Card, a driver's license or non-driver ID card and proof of vehicle insurance. Take these documents to the Police Department (Building 35 on base) to gain access.

While not all veterans meet the criteria for in-person privileges, honorably discharged veterans may have access to online military shopping benefits or VA Canteen Services.
