It's confirmed: Hy-Vee will open stores in Cresco and Waukon

Hy-Vee will be opening stores in Cresco and in Waukon.

A company spokesperson says Cresco and Waukon will receive "Dollar Fresh" stores.  These are smaller stores than the regular Hy-Vees, but feature dairy, bakery, meat and pharmacy departments, as well as a wine and spirits department and a Wall of Value that features private label grocery items and sale items.

There are currently six Dollar Fresh locations, with five in Iowa in Osceola, Creston, Centerville, Toledo and Emmetsburg, with one in West Point, Nebraska.

Hy-Vee says there is no timeline for construction at this point.  They stress that the opening of the stores in Waukon and Cresco does NOT affect their plans to open a store in Decorah.

Hy-Vee, Inc. now operates more than 265 retail stores across eight Midwestern states with sales of more than $10 billion in 2019.  It ranks 12th on Progressive Grocer's 2019 Super 50 list of the top grocers in the United States.
