The Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce's annual Outstanding Community Service Award has been presented to Alan Lerstrom of Decorah.

Lerstrom's projects have included volunteering at the twice-monthly Decorah Community Meal; working as a long-time volunteer for the Decorah Food Pantry and being a member of the Decorah Rotary Club and volunteering for many of the organization's community projects.

Lerstrom also volunteers in many capacities stemming from his membership at the First United Methodist Church in Decorah, including membership in Inclusive Ministries, an advocacy group that works to ensure LGBT rights within the church.

The Outstanding Community Service Award is chosen from people nominated for the award and selected by the Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce.
