Members of the Decorah Planning & Zoning Commission continue to work on regulations of AirBnB lodging within the city limits.
The latest thinking by commission members is that the city's ordinances about long-term housing rentals should be applied to short-term housing rentals as well.
City Administrator Chad Bird says that would mean Air BnBs would be licensed yearly and inspected on a rotating three year basis. He says Planning & Zoning Commission members want to make sure the AirBnBs are operated well, but they also don't want to be overly restrictive.
It's estimated that around 100 AirBnB rentals exist within the City of Decorah limits.
