Magpie Coffeehouse holds 12 days of giving

Magpie Cafe & Coffeehouse has given just under $3,000 to 12 local organizations.  It's the result of Magpie's "12 Days of Giving," which took place in December.

The coffeehouse designated one non-profit organization to receive 10 percent of sales each day for the 12 days leading up to Christmas.  It also collected money from customers each day.

Checks have now been presented to the Decorah Fire Department, NE Iowa Montessori School, Decorah Community Food Pantry, Humane Society of Northeast Iowa, Vesterheim Museum, Decorah Rotary, Spectrum Network, Helping Services, New Minowa PLayers, Decorah High School Athletic & Music Boosters, Toys go 'Round and United Way.

Magpie Cafe & Coffeehouse owner Kelsey Vanney says she's hoping to continue the fundraiser every year at the holidays.
