Slippery roads led to a collision with a traffic signal pole

The Decorah Police Department reports slippery road conditions contributed to a crash that damaged a traffic signal pole on Friday night.

17-year-old Gabriel Vilardo of Decorah was traveling north on College Drive and was attempting to turn west on 5th Avenue. During the turn, the Villardo lost control due to the snow-covered surface, and struck a traffic signal pole causing it to rip from the ground. The vehicle came to rest on top of the traffic signal pole causing significant damage.
