One of the pieces of federal legislation going into effect January 1st relates to veterans who served offshore of Vietnam and were exposed to Agent Orange.
The Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act of 2019 will take effect on Wednesday, January 1st. The legislation provides benefits to veterans who served offshore of the Republic of Vietnam between January 9, 1962 and May 7, 1975, and now have been diagnosed with a medical problem stemming from exposure to the Agent Orange Herbicide. A listing of such medical problems is posted at:

Veterans who qualify should file a claim immediately by contacting the Winneshiek County VA Office, whether it's a new claim or claim which was previously denied. Veterans with an appeal in process do not need to do anything further.
Winneshiek County Veterans and surviving spouses can contact the Winneshiek County Veterans Affairs Office at (563) 382-5786.
