Decorah native Jerry Reichow is officially retiring after 63 seasons in the NFL--59 of them with the Minnesota Vikings.
Reichow starred in football and basketball at the University of Iowa, then was drafted by the Detroit Lions and helped them win the 1957 NFL Championship. He landed in Philadelphia in 1960 and helped the Eagles and quarterback Norm Van Brocklin win the title. Riechow joined the Minnesota Vikings in 1961 and played for them for four seasons until he was cut from the team--but offered a job as a scout in the personnel department in 1965. He has worked for the Vikings ever since.
