The Minnesota State Patrol says a 12-year-old Amish boy was killed in a collision Friday night on Highway 44 in Fillmore County when a van and a buggy collided.
The van and the horse-drawn buggy were both eastbound on Highway 44 at 401st Avenue in Fillmore County when the two vehicles collided as the horse-drawn buggy was making a left turn.
12-year-old Joe Mast, the son of 56-year-old Menno Mast, the driver of the buggy, was killed in the accident. He was taken to Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, where he was pronounced dead. Menno Mast was also taken to Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, but the three other occupants of the buggy were not injured. No one in the van was injured.
