Decorah Attorney Laura Parrish is now officially a judge

Decorah attorney Laura Parrish has been sworn in as a District Court Judge.  Her investiture on Friday afternoon means she will begin hearing cases in the First Judicial District.

There are eleven counties in the district--Allamakee, Black Hawk, Buchanan, Chickasaw, Clayton, Delaware, Dubuque, Fayette, Grundy, Howard and Winneshiek counties--but the district is divided into District 1A and District 1B.  Parrish will served in District 1A, which is the area comprised of the northeastern counties in the district.

Parrish will succeed Judge John Bauercamper--who was also the chairman of the commission which interviewed candidates for the judicial position.
