It has taken several years to complete, but the Stone Arch Bridge project in Dunnings Springs Park is now finished.
Work on the bridge started in 2016, with local stone mason Ted Wilson and former Park-Rec employee and volunteer Randy Fulton doing the bulk of the work. However, Decorah Park-Rec staff members and community volunteers also helped with the project.
The bridge project was spearheaded by a donation from Deco Products and from the Chris and Rhonda Storlie family. Additional funding included the first proceeds from the newly established Park-Rec endowment. Park-Rec Director Andy Nimrod says $140,000 was spent on the bridge project, but that cost was substantially lower than normal because of all the volunteer work connected to the project.
Final touches on the project will include landscaping and some informational signage.
