Winneshiek County Sheriff's Deputies were called to a traffic accident Thursday morning around 9:15 on Middle Hesper Road in Canoe Township, but found more than they were expecting when they arrived.
A car driven by 36-year-old David Alve-Frana had slid into a ditch. The passenger in the car, 24-year-old Kristy Hall of Independence, saw deputies approach and fled into a wooded area. Deputies learned that there was an active arrest warrant out of Buchanan County for Hall.
With the assistance of the Decorah Fire Department's drone, Hall was found a short while later inside an abandoned barn. Hall had methamphetamine in her possession, according to deputies. She was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail on the arrest warrant and was also charged with second offense possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Alve-Frana also was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail for 2nd offense possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine).
