Iowa State Trooper Jared Rude, who had an accident at his home on December 7th which resulted in a traumatic head injury, is showing some signs of improvement.

A Facebook post by Rude's wife, Amanda Amundson Rude, says, "Jared is more alert and continues to try and talk. He is working on recognizing familiar faces, basic things, and completing basic tasks."

Jared is a State Patrol trooper in Northeast Iowa. He and his wife Amanda and their two daughters live in Winneshiek County.  Jared is the son of Gregg and Kari Rude. Gregg is a former Iowa State Trooper and is now a deputy for the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office.

Amanda Rude's Facebook post says Jared "will be going to an intensive brain injury facility somewhere in the US, but we aren't sure where yet. That decision will be made soon, so he can get the best care he can."

She adds, "Our family appreciates all the prayers, kind words, and support from so many in the community."
