Compensation board recommends raises of 3% to 6% for elected county officials

The Winneshiek County Compensation Board is recommending Sheriff Dan Marx's salary be increased by six percent starting next fiscal year, that County Auditor Ben Steines' salary be increased by five percent and that the salaries of all other elected county officials, including supervisors, be increased by three percent.
The recommendation will be voted on by county supervisors in March following a public hearing on the county's 2020-2021 budget.
If the Compensation Board's recommendations are approved in March, the following salaries would go into effect as of July 1st:
County Sheriff: $92,981
County Auditor: $69,657
County Attorney: $81,235
County Treasurer: $68,859
County Recorder: $67,420
County Supervisors: $37,680
