A complaint filed by a Winneshiek County employee acting as a whistleblower is being investigated by county officials.
Details of the complaint have not yet been made public, but the investigation was discussed by county supervisors on Monday, who met with County Attorney Andy Van Der Maaten. Van Der Maaten says an outside investigator--former Decorah Police Chief Bill Nixon--was hired recently to investigate the complaint. The results of that investigation have now been given to Van Der Maaten, who will next meet separately with the whistleblower and with the target of the complaint.
Van Der Maaten says he has prepared a report which analyzes 13 separate issues addressed by the whistleblower. Van Der Maaten also says he will make a final decision on whether to release the complaint following his meetings with both parties.
