Two-vehicle accident causes $6,500 of damage

The Decorah Police report two vehicles were damaged in a Saturday morning traffic accident.

76-year-old Richard Brown of Decorah was re-entering the roadway heading south on Montgomery Street near Winneshiek Medical Center when 20-year-old Alexa Jacobsen, headed north on Montgomery Street, made an unsafe turn into the hospital entrance. Jacobsen struck Brown head-on. Brown tried to avoid the crash by pulling on the sidewalk before being struck.

Jacobsen was cited for making an improper turn. The accident caused a combined $6,500 of damage to the two vehicles. No injuries were reported.
