Accident causes $15,000 of damage

On Monday at 5:40 p.m., three vehicles were damaged in a traffic accident in Calmar.

A train was blocking the roadway at Middle Calmar Road and Highway 52. 23-year-old Ruth Vermace of Decorah was stopped and waiting, as was 24-year-old Mitchell Kuennen of Fort Atkinson. 20-year-old Mason Koehler of Clermont approached from behind in his 1996 Ford F150 and struck the back of Kuennen's 2008 Ford Focus, which pushed Kuennen into Vermace's 2011 Chevy Equinox.

No ambulance transport was needed. Koehler was cited for failure to stop in assured clear distance.The accident caused a combined $15,000 of damage.
