$4,000 of damage in parking lot accident

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office reports two vehicles were damaged in a parking lot accident on Friday afternoon.

64-year-old Sandra Reicks of Cresco was driving down an aisle in the Walmart parking lot and cut across the marked parking spaces. She reports she was blinded by the sun and did not see 68-year-old Luann Nims of Clermont who was driving slowly in the travel lane. Nims reports she saw Reicks cutting across the parking lot and coming toward her, but she was not able to stop in time and was struck by Reicks.

The accident caused a combined $4,000 of damage to the two vehicles. No injuries were reported.
