The Winneshiek Medical Center Board of Trustees has approved two bids on the construction of a new pharmacy at the hospital. The bids are part of an estimated $750,000 which will be spent on meeting new standards for the safe handling of hazardous drugs.
Those changes--which went into effect on December 1st--are causing Winneshiek Medical Center to spend $757,400 in renovations to its pharmacy. The new standards promote patient safety, worker safety and environmental protection.
The WMC Board has awarded a $226,980 contract to Plumb Tech of Waterloo for mechanical system work and a $48,484 contract to SEE Electric of Decorah for electrical work.
