35-year-old Brandon Henry of Cresco has been sentenced to 30 days in jail and ordered to pay a fine for his guilty plea to a charge of Second Offense Drunk Driving.
Henry drove through a back yard in Decorah in July, missing a house, but hitting a tree on the other side of the house.
In court on Tuesday, Henry told Judge Richard Stochl, "I'm very sorry for the whole thing." Henry told the judge he has been complying with the terms of a settlement proposal from prosecutors--including attending classes for alcohol abuse.
Henry then was sentenced to a 365 days in jail, with all but 30 days of that sentence suspended. He will have to serve 30 days in jail, but he also has another 335 days hanging over him during his two-year probation period. Henry will also have to reimburse the victims for the damage he caused to their property.
