Paul Scott comment: Want to know how the Iowa Democratic Party Caucus will turn out? The answer is headquartered in Decorah

I know this has been a difficult time for those of you trying to keep track of the Democratic Party's Presidential contest.  There were already waaay too many candidates on the stage at this fall's debates--and now there are MORE candidates announcing they're running, not fewer!

But if you need to know how the Iowa Caucuses will turn out in early February, just turn to Decorah for your answer.  That's because Decorah now has campaign offices for four Democratic Presidential candidates--and it's my opinion that those four are the only four that matter as we head into 2020.

I'll get to the four of them in a minute, but let me discuss the rest of the field, which includes three U.S. Senators--Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar and Cory Booker.  They've been impressive in their appearances in NE Iowa.  Unfortunately, they haven't caught fire and will either drop out after Iowa or soon after Iowa.

Then there's another group of candidates who reportedly are running for President, but most people just say "Who?" when they hear the names: Michael Bennet, Steve Bullock, Julian Castro, John Delaney, Tulsi Gabbard, Deval Patrick, Andrew Yang, Joe Sestak and Marianne Williamson.  Don't make a bet that any one of them will become President--it's called "a long shot candidacy" for a reason.

Next are two people--Tom Steyer and Michael Bloomberg--who somehow think Democrats want to turn to a billionaire to fix the country's problems.  "You know who we need to fix the problems caused by a group of billionaires?  How about a different billionaire?"

That leaves a group of four candidates with a realistic chance of doing well in Iowa in February--and, not coincidentally, these are the same four candidates who have opened campaign offices in Decorah.  That's a sign that these are the campaigns which have broad support--especially broad financial support--across the state.  They are Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, who are battling for the support of liberal Democrats, and Joe Biden and Pete Buttigieg, who are battling for the support of more mainstream Democrats.

There you have it--the only four candidates doing well enough to be able to afford an office in Decorah.  One of the four of them will win the Iowa Caucuses in February."
