Roadside accident causes $16,000 in damages

The Decorah Police department reports two vehicles were involved in an accident on the side of Highway 9 on Friday evening.
52-year-old Jodi Henning of Decorah was traveling east on Highway 9 when she witnessed a car hit a deer. She pulled over, activated her hazard warning lights and parked off to the side of the road to offer assistance. She was still in her vehicle, parked on the side of the roadway with the engine running when her vehicle was struck from behind by 49-year-old Karen Berg of Castalia. Berg was traveling east on Highway 9 and reports she did not see the stopped vehicle along the roadside.
Berg was cited for Unsafe Approach to Stationary Vehicle. The collision caused $8,000 of damage to each vehicle.
