(by decorahnews.com's Paul Scott):

You're probably not going to believe this is actually a news story--I know I didn't at first.  But the New York Post has posted an article headlined, "Pete Buttigieg raises eyebrows for eating a cinnamon roll like chicken wings." (https://nypost.com/2019/11/08/pete-buttigieg-raises-eyebrows-for-eating-cinnamon-roll-like-chicken-wings/)

And--as weird as it might seem--the cinnamon rolls at the center of the dispute are none other than the famous Ronnie's Rolls served by Ruby's Restaurant in downtown Decorah.

It seems one of the national news reporters following Buttigieg when he spoke at Decorah High School to more that 1,000 people was a food writer.  Yes, writer/photographer Gary He from www.eater.com followed Buttigieg on the South Bend, Indiana mayor's campaign swing through Northeast Iowa and reported on--what Buttigieg ate!

Wrote He, "Buttigieg took a few bites from a box filled with hotel bacon and eggs before spying a tray of cinnamon rolls and maple pecan sticky buns from Ruby's Restaurant. Ever the millennial, Buttigieg shot a photo of the fully loaded tray with his cell phone and tweeted it before microwaving one of the frosted buns and chasing it with a cup of black coffee."

So the photo has gone viral--which is what brought it to the attention of the newspaper in New York, which weighed in on the "proper" way to eat a Ronnie's Roll--because that's a topic New Yorkers know everything about.  Are we actually going to believe the opinion of people who fold up pizza slices to eat them?

In any case, there's not a right or wrong way to eat a Ronnie's Roll--just a delicious way!
