A Decorah man has been sentenced for neglecting his mother

Eddy was charged in April after an ambulance was called for his mother.  Authorities say his mother suffered a serious injury because Eddy failed to provide her with critical care.

Eddy has been sentenced to five years in prison on a charge of dependent adult abuse, but that sentence was suspended and changed to two to five years of probation.  As a condition of that probation, Eddy may only have contact with his mother at the care facility where she lives. Eddy was also ordered to have a substance abuse evaluation and to complete a "cognitive restructuring program."
