There have been several personnel changes at the Decorah Police Department in recent months, including the retirement of Police Chief Bill Nixon and the promotion to Police Chief of former Assistant Chief Dave Smutzler.
There have also been the promotion of Decorah police officer Brent Parker to Assistant Police Chief and the departure of one police officer. That has left the police department with two patrol officer openings. Applications have been taken and background investigation have been completed.
On Friday morning at 9:00 at the Law Enforcement Center, members of the Decorah Civil Service Commission will meet to certify applicants for the two openings and then rank them in order of preference. The process will allow job offers to the leading candidates.
