A jury of six women and eight men in Chickasaw County has begun hearing testimony in the first degree murder trial of 19-year-old Dalton Adam, who is accused of beating to death 57-year-old David Hansen of Freeport.
State Attorney's Office Special Prosecutor Scott Brown, in opening remarks Wednesday, told the jury that Dalton Adam attacked Hansen on July 12th of last year, adding, "There's no weapon--it was their hands and their feet."
Brown said that while Jacob Seelinger (who has already been convicted of second degree murder in Hansen's death) was the person who had the beef with Hansen, Dalton Adam was "the muscle." "These guys just jump on him," Brown told the jurors, adding that on the 9-1-1 call video "you can hear (Hansen's) agonized breathing." Brown said "what you will find is premeditation," meaning that Adam committed murder in the first degree.
The prosecution will call witnesses for all of Wednesday and for part of Thursday before defense attorneys call their witnesses.
