City of Decorah has mailed a flood insurance letter to nearly 150 residents

The City of Decorah has mailed a packet of information to 148 residents living in flood zones in the city, explaining that they might be required to purchase flood insurance once the new flood maps are finally adopted in late 2020.

The mailing is going on now because some homeowners who are reviewing their policies and possibly updating their insurance coverage now may be able to take advantage of the current lower rates versus waiting until required to do so once the new maps are adopted.
