The Dahly Bridge was destroyed May 5th of 2017 when a grain truck weighing over 30 tons crossed the bridge--which had a three ton weight limit. The bridge collapsed.
It's been a long time since the collapse, but a new Dahly Bridge is just about to open to traffic.
Winneshiek County Engineer Lee Bjerke says all that remains of the construction project is to complete some work on the approaches to the new bridge. Bjerke says Dahly Bridge should open to traffic in another few weeks—depending on the weather.
