The name of Thursday's fatal accident victim has now been released

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office has now released the name of the victim of a fatal traffic accident on Trout Run Road Thursday night.

The victim has been identified as 54-year-old William Smith of Decorah.  The Sheriff's Office says Smith was traveling southbound on Trout Run Road at a high rate of speed when he drove off the road and struck a large tree. Smith was the only occupant in the vehicle.
