Winneshiek County Historic Preservation Commission receives a $1,000 grant

The Winneshiek County Historic Preservation Commission has received a $1,000 grant from the Hotel/Motel Marketing Committee.

The money will be used to help pay for a survey of stone structures in Winneshiek County. The report will list the properties with stone structures, as well as the locations, dates of construction, dates of occupation and other relevant historical Information.

The grant funds will assist the commission in hiring a historical consultant to assist with completing the estimated 15 to 20 properties that may be eligible for the National Register of Historic Places.
