New surgeon begins practicing at Gundersen Decorah Clinic

Dr. Elleson Schurtz has joined the Gundersen Decorah Clinic and is providing general surgery services to patients in the area.

She is providing colonoscopies, EGDs and C-sections and hopes to soon offer mastectomies, biopsies and lumpectomies of the breast in Decorah.

A native of Mason City, Dr. Schurtz earned her Doctor of Medicine from University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine in Iowa City. She completed her Residency in General Surgery at University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Grand Forks, N.D.

"I have long enjoyed visiting Decorah and the Northeast Iowa region," said Schurtz. "Working for Gundersen in this area seems like a natural fit after learning about the value Gundersen places on enhancing the well-being of communities in addition to sustainability, both of which align with my core values."
