Decorah man ticketed following traffic accident Friday afternoon at the Highway 9/Montgomery Street intersection

Decorah Police were called to the intersection of Highway 9 and Montgomery Street shortly before 1:00 Friday afternoon.

Police say 92-year-old Michael Visse of Decorah had a red light, but did not stop on Montgomery Street and attempted to make a left hand turn onto Highway 9.  A vehicle driven by 38-year-old Regan McConnell of Decorah had a green light on Highway 9 and was traveling through the intersection and struck Visse's vehicle.

Visse was taken to Winneshiek Medical Center by ambulance.  He was issued a ticket for Failure to Obey a Traffic Signal.  The accident caused $14,000 in damages.
