Mary Christopher Park could be getting a whole new look

Veterans from the Winneshiek County area met Thursday night with members of the Decorah Park Board to discuss their desire for another veterans memorial in Decorah.  Vets have been talking with City of Decorah officials for several months now and the search for a location of a new memorial is now centering on Mary Christopher Park.

Park Board members were positive about the request, but they want the veterans memorial to be part of a planned upgrade of the park.  There have been funds donated for new playground equipment and a new restroom is also on the drawing board.

Parks Director Andy Nimrod has been asked to prepare a master plan for the park which would show where all the planned improvements would be located.  He says he should have such a document for the next Park Board meeting.
