The staff at PIVO Brewery in Calmar are celebrating their brewery's showing at the Great American Beer Festival over the weekend.
The brewery won not one, but two medals at the national competition in Denver. PIVO's Decorah Nordic Gruit took at bronze medal in the "Historical Beer" category. Then the brewery took a gold medal in the Chocolate Beer category with "Old Balltown Bulleit Bourbon Barrel Aged Salted Caramel Dark Chocolate Brownie Milk Stout," or "OBBBBASCDCBMS," as the brewery calls it.
The Great American Beer Festival is the premier U.S. beer festival and competition. Each year, GABF brings together the brewers and diverse beers that make the U.S. the world's top brewing nation.
The Great American Beer Festival takes place at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. It was founded in 1982, and has been growing and evolving along with the American craft brewing industry ever since.
