Alliant Energy says it has reached an agreement with eight organizations and businesses which had objected to the utility's proposed rate increase.

The agreement, filed with the Iowa Utilities Board on Friday, is with the Office of Consumer Advocate, the Environmental Law and Policy Center and Iowa Environmental Council, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Iowa Business Energy Coalition, the Large Energy Group, Large General Service Group, Sierra Club, and Walmart Stores.

All the parties have agreed to an annual electric base rate increase in the amount of $127,000,000--based on a total annual Iowa electric revenue requirement of $1,816,169,098.  On March 1st, Alliant Energy/IPL filed with the Iowa Utilities Board a request for a $203,575,597 increase.

Friday's filing with the Iowa Utilities Board ends by saying, "The Parties agree to the terms of this Settlement Agreement and agree to represent to others the fairness of the result reflected in this Settlement Agreement."
