A check for $3,000 has been presented to the Discovery Camps program by the local chapter of 100+ Women Who Care.

The group agreed to donate to the program after hearing a pitch from Luther College Center for Sustainable Communities Assistant Director Emily Neal at its recent meeting.

Hosted by Luther College in partnership with Winneshiek County Conservation, Discovery Camp programming is geared for youth ages pre-school through 9th grade. Over the course of the last 14 years, over 2,500 kids have participated in the program.

Stated Neal, "For 14 years Discovery Camps have been providing opportunities for area youth to learn about the natural world and our relationship to it. Through rich explorations of our local woodlands, wetlands, and prairies students get active while connecting to new friends through hands-on outdoor experiences that are fun, engaging and full of discovery."
