Posted: Fri, Oct 4, 2019 9:30 AM

Helping Services for Youth & Families' Domestic Abuse Resource Center (DARC) is hosting an Outdoor Movie Night on Saturday at the Decorah Softball Field from 6:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. as a part of Domestic Violence Awareness month in October.

Activities begin at 6:30 p.m. and the screening of "Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween" starts at dark. Bring lawn chairs, blankets, and refreshments. Children must be accompanied by an adult. This event is free for all but donations will be accepted, with the money used to purchase gas cards for victims of domestic abuse served by Helping Services' DARC.

Last year, the Helping Services' DARC team of advocates and volunteers assisted 294 individual survivors of domestic abuse in the seven counties the team serves (Allamakee, Bremer, Chickasaw, Clayton, Fayette, Howard, and Winneshiek). Staff and volunteers also answered 1,160 calls on the Resource Line and provided 131 transportation trips for clients.
