Yes, it was hot in Decorah in September.
Decorah weather statistician Richard Bernatz says the average temperature in September in Decorah was 68.8 degrees, which is 6.7 degrees warmer than the 127-year average for September.
20 of September's 30 days in Decorah had an above average high, while 26 days had an above average low. The high temperature on September 30th reached 90 degrees--a record for that date.
Only September of 1931 was warmer than this September in Decorah. On that year the temperature averaged 69.3 degrees.
September was also wetter than normal in Decorah. That was largely because of the rainfall on September 13th, when 2.63 inches of rain fell. It rained on 15 of September's 30 days, which was six days more than normal.
Bernatz says for the last 12 months precipitation has totaled 47.6 inches. That total is 14.32 inches above the average for the past 126 years.
